Naturism is practiced widely in the Greek Islands although, strictly speaking, legal only in a relatively few designated locations but almost on all islands there are unofficial nudist beaches. Topfree is tolerated on almost all beaches.
Greece with its many islands has the best beaches in the world and many where you can sunbath ‘au natural’. For a complete back-to-nature experience, and an all-over tan, Greece nudist beaches are one of the best destination in Europe.
1.Mirtiotissa Beach
Mirtiotissa (Myrtiotissa) is located between the villages of Pelekas and Vatos, in an isolated place on the western coast of the island, about 13km away from Kerkyra town. It borders with the beach of Glyfada but both are separated by high rocks. This beach is known as Corfu’s nudist paradise the only beach in the island of Corfu where nudism is officially tolerated. The southern part is mainly populated by nudists.
2. Velanió, Skópelos
In Northern Sporades, Velanió is officially part-naturist. To get there, drive 4km south from Skópelos Town to road’s end at cramped, inferior Stáfylos beach, then walk (easily) five minutes east beyond the headland.
3. Filaki nudist beach, Crete
Filaki nudist beach is made up of fine pebbles, and has sunbeds and umbrellas, and a canteen serving snacks. If you wish you can stay in Vritomartis a naturist resort. While nudism is the norm in the gardens and at the beach, clothing (even if it’s just a towel) is mandatory within the Vritomartis indoor spaces.
4. Plakias Beach, Crete
Nestled at the bottom of breathtaking cliffs on Crete’s southern edge is Plakias, one of the island’s biggest beaches. Sunbaking and swimming in the nude isn’t the only activity on the agenda here, waterspouts such as scuba diving and windsurfing are also popular with its unabashed visitors.
5. Paradise Beach, Mykonos
Paradise Beach with fine sand and gin-clear sea. The hot and heavy action turns up a notch come late afternoon when the tunes are cranked up and in-the-buff beachgoers slurp a cocktail.
6. Banana Beach, Greece
Sun-blushed Skiathos can’t help but seduce beachgoers. Miles of soft sand this naked-friendly Banana Beach near Koukounaries on Greece’s southwest coast, where the bronzed rub shoulders with the beautiful.
7. Vlychada Beach, Santorini
Impressive are the rock formations behind the beach. If you’re keen to fling off your bikini, head to the north side along with a whole host of free-spirited funsters.
8. Sougia, Crete
Is another beautiful beach but if you decide to go to Sougia choose the eastern edge of the beach for skinny dipping.
